About Us

The Altus Boom Operator Association is a Non-Profit, Private Organization that exists at Altus AFB, Oklahoma. The only association we have with the Air Force, is that we exist due to its members being part of the Air Force, while stationed at this installation. We in no way represent the Air Force, nor do we share in its views or have an opinion on how the Air Force conducts business at Altus AFB, Oklahoma or worldwide. Any views expressed on this web site are not intended to reflect any official Air Force position or subject matter. We are responsible for hosting the Annual Boom Symposium, while conducting numerous fundraisers for both charity and operation of the symposium.

We are located in Southwest Oklahoma at Altus AFB, the home of the KC-135 Schoolhouse. We have our career field’s top professionals stationed here. We conduct Initial Qualification Training as well as initial Instructor Training through the Central Flight Instructor Program. Our instructor boom force here is second-to-none. The combined knowledge, skill and technical expertise set us apart. To build upon that, we have the combined experience of the Flight Safety Services Corporation boom instructors. All are retired aerial refueling professionals. We have retired members of our Association employed by the A-Team Civilian Maintenance Directorate. As you can see, being a member of the Altus Team is an exciting experience.
